This piece of gemmy sodalite is blindingly bright under all wavelengths, MW, SW and LW and deeply tenebrescent. It is the most interesting under midwave. There is an unknown deep blue mineral we haven’t seen before. There are also spots of violet which we think is leucophanite. This piece is also slightly phosphorescent.
The sodalite on this piece changes color when exposed to UV (SW), darkening to a grape purple (almost black) as shown in the GIF below - a unique hue compared to other Greenland sodalites. Under LW the bright orange fluorescence is unmistakable.
Small delicate crystals of bright green fluorescing quartz are peppered around a matrix of calcite on this striking specimen.

Red sodalite is named for the color it takes on when exposed to sunlight; it is nicely tenebrescent under longwave UV. Under shortwave UV the color deepens, in seconds, to almost black in some areas.
