An excellent cabinet specimen. Large, green, terminated apatite crystals sit on a matrix of orange calcite creating a beautiful contrast. Under midwave UV, the apatite crystals fluoresce a bright purplish-blue hue, while the calcite fluoresces a red.
There are minor areas of black augite throughout the second side of the matrix.
"Red" Sodalite (Hackmanite) - Deeply Tenebrescent Greenland Mineral
Red sodalite is named for the color it takes on when exposed to sunlight; it is nicely tenebrescent under longwave UV. Under shortwave UV the color deepens, in seconds, to almost black in some areas.
